Actors have to become first and foremost storytellers. Within them, they contain the entire story which they relate in an infinitude of ways, each new story requiring a particular performance language of its own. So to tell stories, actors need to acquire techniques that extend and expand their skills and functions way beyond the already complex and demanding job of creating a character.

Cody Carolin has played many roles in her life, previously known as an actor under the name of Cody Horn, she has modelled with brands like Ralph Lauren, starred in household favourite movies like Magic Mike, and now humbly works intently with creatives to better define their vision and course. The metamorphosis of her journey begins and continues with her passion for storytelling. In this dynamic interview she speaks with authenticity and service to creative culture and the community that surrounds it.

Her latest passion project spotlights friend and muse Aline Fiuza with the exploration of Cadence Kitchen, a live online program that uncovers the flow of the kitchen and facilitates an interactive learning space for people wanting to learn how to cook and not just follow a recipe.

Cody’s recipe for life follows an inspiring plunge into following her heart centre, by attuning with others. Not only does she reflect the flow of energy she takes in from those around her - she amplifies it!

Her former life as an actress

I read my first screenplay at 9 and immediately knew I wanted to be involved in film. I always imagined it would be behind the camera, but to my genuine surprise, I started my career in front of the camera. I started modeling at 15 with brands like Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klien, and Vogue. I transitioned to acting at 21 and was fortunate enough to work on shows like End of Watch, Magic Mike and The Office (US). I was happy. And I also was not. Like so many other people, at 27, my healing journey began. As my inner life shifted, so did my outer life, and a new career started to form.

The alchemy of ‘Two and You’

I help people tell stories. I’m a producer of sorts— finally behind the camera. The artists I work with have a vision and sometimes they need someone to co-vision with.

At Two and You we offer full service business and creative partnership. “Two” is my company and me, and “You” is our partner: the creator, the muse, the original steward of the idea.

Whether it’s with Dimond Cross Ranch on our book, Think Like A Horse, or with Channing Tatum on our books and film, Sparkella, or with Magic Mike across a multitude of projects, I’m always looking at how we can create new businesses around a central IP.

In Human Design, I am a Projector: an energy type that can see things in a way that others can’t. Sometimes it’s a simple small tweak or improvement to make things more efficient and work better.

As a Projector, my job is to stay centered, to help hold the vision with my clients and creative partners and share what I see for how these projects can come to life.

I love being part of different creative projects. Unlike when I was a kid, stories can be told in a multitude of ways and I love playing in all types of media.

Sharing her secret sauce

As a co-visioner, I have a practice for myself I call “The Muse.” Twice a week, I sit alone in a room and imagine, one at a time, each project I’m involved with. From that slowed down, centered, focused, open, quiet place, I ask “what wants to be seen?” and write down what comes to me. This practice has helped me stay connected to the heart of every project and gain clarity on our next steps in the fastest and most grounded way.

Her passion projects

A few years ago while I was in London for the production of Magic Mike’s Last Dance, I became friends with Channing’s chef Aline Fiuza and was really inspired by how she effortlessly navigated being in the kitchen — what I started calling the cadence of the kitchen.

I believe the center of the home and community is in the kitchen, and seeing how Aline moved in this space really inspired me to not only want to learn how to cook more elevated foods but also really understand the cadence of a kitchen
how to meal prep and then reinvent meals over and over.

Aline loved the idea and we decided to bring our community along for the ride and birth Cadence Kitchen, a live online program to learn exactly this. And it worked — I am a much better cook and feel way more confident in running the cadence of my kitchen.

Another fun passion project — I also did ceramics as a kid and I just signed up for a series of classes over the next few months and my goal is to make all the dishes for my house. We’ll see!

Her sources of inspiration

I tend to be an esoteric and/or serious person (how is this interview going!?!??!), and the real answer is Light, especially as it’s coming through a window.

Also: My husband. Closest friends. Witnessing how people live, especially if it’s different from how I live.

Her affirmations

I haven’t really used the tool of affirmations but I do think it’s really important to do whatever work is necessary to know that we are good enough and we are worthy. Especially as women! We are good enough. We are worthy.

Her excitements

It’s currently summer in California so I’m really excited by the watermelon sorbet at my local ice cream shop!

Her priorities

Is life pretty wild for anyone else right now? I feel like the whole world (and my little world) changes every couple of weeks, and it can be tough to navigate. I guess my priority is to stay centered in joy amongst the chaos.

Her reading

A recent favorite is an oldie but a goodie, Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein. It’s one of the most iconic science fiction novels and I think we should all be water brothers (IYKYK).

Her EE style

Anywhere & everywhere & always. I’ve worn the brand for at least 6 years— from Costa Rica to Paris. I love the versatility of EE, knowing that with the same piece, depending on what accessories I pair it with, I can dress it up or down. My go-to was a linen jumpsuit and matching tunic. I’d go barefoot at the beach and then put on a pair of Chanel sandals and be ready for dinner. It’s a packing dream!

My professional journey has taken twists and turns and the only way that I have found myself to where I am today is to find my authentic next step. That’s why I love EE clothes. They’re natural fibers, beautifully designed and built to last. For me, they’re the perfect clothes for walking a journey of authenticity.
